Guidelines and Rules

I'm not going to write a bunch of rules like 'Respect each other' and 'Don't be sexist' because I trust you guys, but there a few general things I want to emphasize.

Do not godmode. Your character will be hit in the face. I will make sure of it.

Unless stated otherwise, the order in which people post loops (For example: Person A > Person B > Person C > Person A > Person B > Person C)

For convenience purposes, putting who all you're roleplaying into your signature on your profile will help others know easily who is who. A simple 100x100px avatar will do fine.

No one is inherently evil or pure. A species may be spiritually pure, but they can still be a dick. At this university, all creatures are created equal. This may not be agreed upon person-to-person (like the purity of demons over unicorns), but all are treated with equal respects as a rule.

On explicit RPing, like sex or really really terrible gore, please put an "E" in the title so people know before looking into it.

No rape or molestation unless explicitly agreed upon by both roleplayers. (You're probably thinking, why would I want to do that in the first place? For some plot devices, especially if a character is genuinely evil, it may be a thing that happens. Permission is the key.)

If you're done with a session, please put "[Closed]" in the title and then lock it. (Click to edit the thread, then hit the gear and select "Lock")

[Edit 4/16] Your character can only be in one thread at a time, UNLESS the people you're RPing with are inactive for a long time. I realize that some people have busy lives and I don't want it to be a stressful environment, so allowing this should help. You can have characters in like, 2 threads now. Try to finish them up, though.

Another suggestion is to post timestamps IC, as in the date and time within the world. This may make things easier for other people and the order in which events take place.

[Edit 2/26] Also, putting your text as specific hex codes every time (as some of us are already doing) allows us to know quickly what character you're roleplaying. Reserving a hex code (My main's is 1c8f38 and is an emerald green) that matches your character in some way will help make the posts colorful and concise! :)

[Edit 4/5] I just want to add that sometimes I will edit some formatting things with your posts occasionally. Nothing terrible drastic, but mostly because I'm very anal with formatting. If you have any issues, feel free to talk to me.

There aren't many rules as to what you can and can't do on this site, please have fun and make things interesting!

Dice Rolling

When Times Get Dicey

Fighting is bound to happen in roleplaying, which is why I've installed a dice rolling system to the post maker. It is a button with a single die on it, located in the second row on the far right of the text options. Clicking on it will allow you to 'roll' while posting. You won't be able to see what number you get until after you posted, making cheating a lot less possible! Hurray! Here's an example of what your die will look like:

This is how it works - during fight scenes, you may want to hit your opponent. In order to actually hit them, you must roll a 10 or higher. The dice is set to contain a 20 sided die, so the chances are 50/50. You must do this unless the person you're roleplaying with agrees to be hit anyways (Who doesn't like a little roughing up?). This also goes for things like summoning demons/spirits, sneaking around campus after dark, etc.

IF YOU GET A [1] ON A ROLL: Your character seriously fucked up and something completely counter-productive may result. For example, if you go to summon a healing spirit, you may accidentally summon an incredibly powerful demonic entity. The possibilities are endless.

IF YOU GET A [20] ON A ROLL: You do bonus whatever you were setting out to do. For example, if you're going to punch someone in the face, you may end up breaking their nose! Congratulations, suspension for you!

[Edit 3/24] Dice rolling also determines how hard/effective your task will be. The higher the roll, the better you do. For example, if I rolled to punch someone and got an 11, it's a weak punch as opposed to an 18, which hits hard. In addition to this, how low your number is determines how badly you miss/fuck up. So if you roll a 9 to punch, your fist may almost hit, while a roll of 3 makes you look like an idiot. It takes an obvious inspiration from DnD, which I don't think anyone minds.

Proficiencies & Skills
I've also discussed with a couple of people on proficiency as a topic in dice rolling. Here's my addition to account for this. If your character is proficient in an area that you are rolling for (Example: Your character is skilled with Elemental Magic and you're attempting to throw a fireball at someone), you have a higher chance of striking - only a 5 or above is needed. Also please write in the post that you are proficient in that area so it gives the opponent this information. This also accounts for being skilled in hand-to-hand combat, summoning spirits, etc. If you are not proficient, the chances are, again, a solid 50/50 chance. Please don't make your character proficient in fifty things, though that falls under the category of godmoding. Two or three are just right.

[Edit 4/5] Weaknesses
In addition to being highly proficient at something, one can also have an extreme weakness to it. For example, demons are especially prone to attacks from spiritually pure beings such as unicorns. In a battle, their attacks from characters like this would do critically more damage. Another example would be a fire nymph against a water-based attack. Of course, there isn't a system to track the HP of your character or the damage you deal to others, but please note that these kind of attacks do a lot more damage.
